Beauty Rest

When you are out mushroom hunting it seems like you will never spot one, but once you do you see them everywhere. That is how it felt with mattresses. When I first picked up my manual focus film camera I figured I needed something easy to use as an unmoving object. When I looked around I saw an abandoned mattress and thought, well, nothing is easier to focus on than a big white square. Once I found one mattress it seems like I found a million. Because I was using film I had to limit myself to one frame per mattress which meant that I took my best shot at making the mattress look good.

I will be the first to admit that I have moved out of an apartment and not wanted to haul my cheap Ikea mattress with me. Not knowing what else to do I left my mattress next to the apartment dumpster and got in my car and drove away. I never gave that mattress a second thought but maybe I should have.
